Merge branch 'bash_sucks'

This merge commit converts all host side bash scripts to Makefile
targets. This allows better tracking/debugging of the build process.

Since we do not have make inside the ubuntu rootfs (at least not in
the beginning), we cannot port the remaining scripts as easily... :-(
